How does it Affect Happiness?
Sample Lesson Plans
1
Students will begin this unit by watching a short video introducing the class to common concerns surrounding social media. Following the video we will review our summative assessment as a class; our class concludes with a sharing circle in which students share their current relationship to social media.

2
In this lesson, students will divide into 6 groups discussing different impacts of social media on health, including distracted driving, anxiety, or addiction. Students will read articles given to them regarding their chosen topic, and answer questions in response to the articles. Finally, students will design an app that works to prevent their chosen health topic and create a logo for their app to share with the class along with a brief description of their app. The activities in this lesson are inclusive in nature, working in groups students can support ELL peers and share the work of research and design based on strengths and understandings.

3
We begin this lesson with a group discussion defining "stereotype" and "bias". Students will then split up into groups to discuss common stereotypes found in secondary school environments and share their findings as a class.
Finally, we end the class with a free write regarding students personal experiences with stereotypes. This formative assignment will be used to guide their weekly reflection and final summative assignment.
